Rochford

Rochford is a historic market town situated approximately 43 miles from Central London and 21 miles from the Essex county town of Chelmsford.

Rochford was the centre of trade in the local area and has associations with King Henry VIII and Ann Boleyn and has its own private members golf club, Rochford Hundred Golf Club which was founded in 1893.

In days gone-by the market square hosted the livestock market on Tuesdays and whilst livestock is no longer sold the Tuesday market is still thriving.

Rochford has its own secondary school, The King Edmund School and several primary schools including Holt Farm Infant and Junior schools and St Theresa’s Catholic school.

Rochford has its own railway station with a journey time of approximately 50 minutes to London Liverpool Street.

In July 2011 Rochford got another railway station to serve the newly expanded Southend Airport, the runway extension of which was opened in March 2012. This means the airport is now capable of handling 150-200 seat, short and medium haul aircraft such as the Airbus A319 and Boeing 737.

The airport is now providing flights to Belfast, Edinburgh, Newquay, Jersey, Faro, Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza, Majorca, Barcelona, Geneva, Venice, Krakow, Berlin, Amsterdam, Tenerife, Berlin and Venice.
