Today, we're meeting Katie Potter, Client Services Consultant based at Williams and Donovan in the Hockley office. Katie has joined us to work part-time with the Client Services Team Lynn and Paul, led by Paul Dunne.

This is pretty unique because Katie approached Williams and Donovan proactively for the role. The position wasn’t advertised, so we're delighted to have Katie's conveyancing expertise and skillset on the team.

Katie, tell us how you approached Williams and Donovan?
All I kept seeing around Hockley were Williams and Donovan SOLD signs!
At least three houses down my Mum's road (in Hockley) so I DM’d (direct message) your social media during lockdown to see if you needed anyone in sales progression on a part-time basis. I had an interview and W&D hired me so I’m so glad I made that introduction. It was meant to be! :-)

Where did you work previously?

I worked at Tolhurst Fisher for 15 years prior to this job, as a legal secretary in residential conveyancing and commercial conveyancing.

How are you finding the move from an independent law firm to an independent estate agency?
I find it uses my legal knowledge in a different way. I enjoy using what I know and it gives me the confidence to be able to help others. It’s such a nice working environment here at Williams and Donovan. I keep telling everyone how lovely the team is – they really are so nice.

What do you like about working in conveyancing /legal and how did you start your journey?
I worked for a company in London doing high-end conveyancing which got me into it. Who doesn’t love looking at beautiful houses?! :-)

What do enjoy doing outside of work?
I have two children aged eight and two that keep me busy! I’m a big West Ham fan and I’m also a Scentsy Consultant – selling wax warmers and wax melts. As a family, we love going to CJ’s (a bowling alley in Hockley). We go there a lot – we’re going tonight actually! My son is very good at bowling :-)

What’s the best bit of sales progression advice you could share with our readers?
Use a good solicitor. It’s not worth cutting corners and using a cheap solicitor.

Do you have a favourite food?

It’s got to be a lasagne.

What's your favourite music?
I love live music and Kasabian, (been longing to go to gigs this year) and I always used to go to the Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh.

How's life working and living locally?
I’ve always lived in Hockley my whole life. Now that I’m working in Hockley it’s been brilliant. No petrol or parking is needed, I just walk to work. I walk the school run then carry on walking to Williams and Donovan straight after. It’s made a huge difference to my work/life balance.

Thanks, Katie it's been great to get to know you, we wish you the best of luck and enjoy your new and exciting role at Williams and Donovan.
