Valentine’s Day and the Heart of Home
Thu 12 Feb 2026
Valentine’s Day is celebrated every 14th of February, but its origins go back centuries.
The day is thought to have started with the Roman festival of Lupercalia, a celebration of love and fertility, which later became associated with St. Valentine, a priest who, according to legend, performed secret marriages when it was forbidden.
Over time, Valentine’s Day evolved into the occasion we know today – a day to celebrate love and affection.
At Williams and Donovan, we like to think of Valentine’s Day as a reminder that love and comfort often begin at home.
Whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or let a property in Hockley, Benfleet, or the surrounding areas, the right home can be the perfect place to make memories with the people you care about.
From cosy apartments to family houses, we help our clients find properties where life can flourish – because, at the end of the day, a home is more than just walls and a roof; it’s where the heart is.
This Valentine’s, maybe it’s a good time to think about a place that feels just right – a home you love coming back to every day.
Have a great Valentine’s Day all.
